At least 15 people have been killed and 90 injured in a magnitude 6.5 earthquake that struck Surigao del Norte province on Mindanao Island in the southern Philippines, provincial disaster-response official Ramon Gotinga said, as cited by AP. “We’re still doing a rapid needs and damage assessment,” Office of Civil Defense director Antonio Gonzales said. The quake was followed by nearly 100 aftershocks.
