Unidentified man shoots Sikh man in Washington, US

US, a Sikh man has been injured when an unidentified person shot him outside his home in the Washington state and allegedly shouted go back to your own country.
Local media reports, the Sikh man was working on his vehicle outside his home in the city of Kent on Friday when he was approached by a stranger, who walked up to the driveway.
Kent police said, an argument broke out between the two men, with the victim saying the suspect made statements to the effect of go back to your own country. The unidentified man then shot him in the arm.
Kent Police Chief Ken Thomas said, while the Sikh man sustained non life-threatening injuries, they are treating this as a very serious incident. Kent police have launched an investigation into the case and reached out to the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.

EC issues directions to CEOs of 5 poll bound states

The Election Commission has issued directions to the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of the five poll bound states of Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Manipur for making fool proof security arrangements for counting of votes.
These directions are in addition to those issued earlier by the Commission regarding storage and safety arrangements of EVMs, appointment of counting staff, counting agents and counting procedures.
The Commission also had several rounds of video conferences with the CEOs and Returning Officers of all 5 States to take first hand inputs on the preparedness of the counting arrangements.
Giving details of security mechanism set up, the Senior Election Commission officer said that the ECI is not leaving any stone unturned to fair and transparent counting arrangements at all the 157 counting centres. Counting will take place at 53 centres in Punjab, 2 in Goa, 75 in Uttar Pradesh, 15 in Uttarakhand and 12 centres in Manipur.
The Election Commission has taken feedback from all political parties and candidates, based on which these additional instructions have been issued with a view to further bolster security arrangements to tackle both general as well as situation specific exigencies and ensure a smooth counting process in a transparent manner.
ECI has instructed all the CEOs and DEOs to make the above arrangements and undertake counting process cautiously, step by step and without undue haste so as to make them fool proof, the EC officer added.
The instruction includes proper barricading arrangements inside each of the counting hall with weld wires mesh to segregate the counting agents from the counting personnel and EVMs, proper arrangement for Videography in all the counting halls to record the general happenings in the counting hall for effective monitoring.
The Commission has also instructed that all counting arrangements must be completed by night of 7th March. It said, the Observers will visit the counting halls on 8th March and will send a report to the Commission on counting arrangements.

(live-PR.com) – Campaigning of assembly elections has entered in the last phase in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur for which polling will be held on Wednesday.
In Uttar Pradesh, campaigning for seventh phase and last phase of elections is in full swing.
Leaders and star campaigners of all major political parties are engaged in canvassing for their party and alliance candidates.
A total of 
40 constituencies spread over 7 districts of Eastern region of the state under this phase. Districts covered in this phase of polls are Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Bhadohi and Sonebhadra.
A total of 535 candidates including 51 women are in the fray. BSP has fielded its nominees for all seats while BJP is in contest from 32 and has left 8 seats to its allies Apana Dal and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party.
Samajwadi Party’s candidates are in fray in 31 segments and its ally congress is in contest from 10 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hit the campaign trail at his constituency Varanasi yesterday. He is visiting his constituency today, second consecutive day to address a rally and gatherings.
Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav will address a rally today at Jaunpur while Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will address half a dozen public meetings at Sonebhadra, Mirzapur and Chandauli districts.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to address three public meetings at Sonebhadra, Mirzapur and Jaunpur districts. Tomorrow is last day of campaigning for seventh phase of polls.
In Manipur, hectic election campaigning is going on for the 2nd and last phase of the Manipur Assembly election.
22 assembly constituencies will go to polls in this phase on Wednesday.
